I have a older 197? Vanguard 470 sailboat which I've been working on for some time now. I recently flipped it in the bay and I guess when I was righting it the mast struck and oyster bar and broke. I have been having a hard time finding companies that offer replacement masts and which masts will work with my boat. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!!!

Have you tried Superspar? If it doesn't work with your current mast step perhaps you can swap mast steps to get a new mast to work.

I have a mast from a vanguard 470 (1 piece mast) that I would let you have real cheap.:D The trouble would be transport. Shoot me an email if you're still looking for one shines57 at hotmail dot com.

Yeah new masts are pretty pricey- if you can find one used thats the way to go.

Else Proctor Selden out of Charleston SC stocks 470 masts I believe.

Where are you located? We are a Selden/Proctor and SuperSpar distributor for the east coast. Both are made in the U.K. and as you can imagine they are costly to import with the final price pushing $1,000. Unfortunately we have nothing in stock and probably won't be ordering any for a while. Another option is keep an eye out for used ones. Finally try contacting DwyerMast at http://www.dwyermast.com they can probably come up with a section at a decent price that can be used recreationally.
