1973 Vangard 470 for sale-$575

1973 Vangard 470 in fair condition with no title, ready for restoration or just plain recreation after a few repairs. Previously registered in Michigan. I've only owned it for a short time, and am selling because it is just a bit too much boat for my 10 year old sond and I to hold down in a stiff breeze.

Needs three repairs to get it going, then the rest is a matter of personal taste:

it will need:
A centerboard gasket installed on the centerboard trunk
Fiberglass repair on the centerboard
a small tear in the leach of the main sail

The Information
All sails are well used. Jib and spinnaker are in useable condition, as mentioned above, main will need to be sewn up on the leech as there is a ~6 inch tear along one of the batten pockets. Once it is sewn up they'd get you around the lake, but I wouldn't want to race with them.

Good functional Harken blocks for the Main and Jib sheets. FICO cam cleats (x4) on each side.

Rudder and tiller are in good condition but centerboard has a crunch at the bottom that will need to be glassed or just replaced. Needs centerboard gasket and retaining strips. (as mentioned above).

Hull is a bit flexy where the skipper sits, but is strong enough to support me at ~ 150 lbs.

Mast is a gold Holt Allen- fair condition but still works. Has a ding about 3 ft up from the base of the mast, not sure what from. Taper section at top 3 ft has a slight bow to it, probably from cranking the main down too hard. Seems to work fine with the sail up.

Trailer is rusty but has good tires and lights work.

With a little work, this one could get you started for a fraction of the price of the newer 470's.
